In 1999, he began to learn guitar, and participated in two national guitar competitions within three years, winning the second and third place respectively. In 2002, he went to Austria to further his studies in classical guitar, earning dual degrees in music performance and music education. In 2011, he graduated from the Bern University of the Arts with a degree in classical guitar, becoming the first young Chinese performer to graduate with full marks and the highest degree. That same year, he continued to pursue a performer's diploma, studying the lute as a secondary subject and modern and classical music as well. He obtained the highest degree in the field of classical music performance, equivalent to a doctorate.
He has held classical guitar solo recitals at the Shanghai Concert Hall, including "Legends of Latin America" and "20 Love Letters - Foolish Love". He held a multimedia special concert called "Songs from the Chinese" at the Bern Concert Hall, where he performed as a soloist with the Bern Symphony Orchestra playing Tedesco No.1 Guitar Concerto. Fan Ye was invited as the first musician to participate in the "Artist-in-Residence Program" at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai. He was invited to the closing concert of the Shanghai Contemporary Music Week, where he performed a concerto with the famous singer Yang Ji Ma and the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, interpreting the works of renowned composer Chen Mu Sheng, and participated in the recording of the original soundtrack of the game "Genshin Impact" and performed in the annual symphony concert. Fan Ye has been actively performing on stages around the world with his unique concert format. He is currently the director of Ensemble Étoile.
He has collaborated with artists and orchestras such as Kong Xiangdong, Li Quan, Chang Shiqi, Hu Haiquan, Yasushi Yamada (the composer of the original soundtrack for "Big Fish and Red Flowers"), Huang Ying, Yang Jingma, Ju Wenpei, Wang Ziwang, Li Jun (opera artist), Wei Chunrong (Kunqu artist), Badi Assad, Frank Ollu, Qin Liwei, Bern Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra, Wuhan Philharmonic Orchestra, Beijing Duncun Wind Orchestra, etc.
