Between 2011 and 2022, Manni Wu won multiple major international classical guitar competitions, and has served as a jury member and masterclass instructor at international competitions and festivals. Her performances have taken her across China, Germany, Italy, Spain, Thailand, and other countries in Asia and Europe, presenting over 40 high-level solo concerts and orchestral collaborations.
After graduating in 2020, she returned to China and joined the School of Music, Jiangsu Normal University as a lecturer in Classical Guitar. She teaches undergraduate and graduate classical guitar courses, as well as postgraduate courses including “Performance Art Studies” and “German Phonetics.”Her solo albums Reminiscence and Burgmüller on the Fingertips were produced and released by Pacific Audio & Video Co., Ltd.She has published academic journal articles including“Chinese Impressions on Six Strings: An Analysis of the Nationalization Path of Classical Guitar,” “Exploring New Media and Technology in Classical Guitar Teaching in the High-Speed Internet Era,” and “A Preliminary Study on the Application of German Phonetics in Vocal Singing.”
As a young artist, Manni Wu’s playing is direct and highly creative, respecting the composer’s intentions while clearly expressing her own personal interpretation, as noted by world-renowned classical guitarist Joaquín Clerch.
With superb technique, she fully reveals the dramatic depth and climactic power of the music on the guitar, vividly conveying the stylistic characteristics of each work. Whether performing Romantic repertoire such as Schubert’s Ständchen, or Italian composer Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s Capriccio Diabolico, written in homage to Paganini, her performances are consistently captivating, as reported by Rheinische Post, Germany. As an outstanding graduate of Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf, she presents Romantic repertoire with elegance and refined interpretation, revealing rich musical lines and depth. Her virtuosic yet profound performances leave a strong impression. As a member of a guitar quartet, her playing also demonstrates remarkable talent and a distinctive artistic voice, as noted by Westfälische Nachrichten, Germany.
